What are Reed Diffusers?
A reed diffuser is basically a group of micro straws encased by a shell approximately 3 mm (about 0.1 inch) in diameter. The principal of operation is capillary action which is a phenomenon where liquid spontaneously rises in a narrow space such as a thin tube; in this case, the micro straws. When the reeds are placed in a fragrance oil the liquid is drawn up the tubes and the fragrance is released into the air.
How to use Reed Diffusers:
1. Pour the fragrance oil into the diffuser bottle until the bottle is almost full.
2. Use 10-12 reeds for an average size room. You can adjust the number of reeds to get the scent strength desired. Insert the reeds in the bottle and fan out at the top.
That's all there is to it! The oil will wick up the reed and fragrance the room for months.
Here are a few helpful hints:
1. It may take a day or so for the oil to wick up the reeds. To help it along and enjoy the aroma sooner turn the reeds over to expose the moistened end in the air.
2. About once every week or two turn the reeds over to refresh the scent.
3. The scent should last for months. However, environmental factors (air conditioner running, windows open, etc.) may affect the strength of the aroma and how long the reeds last.
4. As the reeds are used they will eventually get clogged with oil and the capillary action will cease. You will notice the scent diminishing when this happens. In this case just replace the reeds.
5. Instead of throwing away used reeds try placing them on a paper towel and put in a closet or utility room until all the scent is gone.
6. Don't interchange reeds from one scent to another. The results may not be what you expect and they may not work.
The diffuser fragrances are developed and tested at our site. We do not sell third party reed diffuser oil. New fragrances will be added as they are developed.
Note: The diffuser oils are developed from our fragrance line. You cannot substitute fragrance oils for reed diffuser oils. They just won't wick correctly!
